PLANTS + PATIOS + SOD

A complete revitalization of every aspect of this home in deep NE.

This was a huge project. We ripped out a huge amount of dying sod, river rock, and old ratty plants. The new owners of this house wanted a fresh look, and we wanted to make them happy! We did a lot here, so let's look at everything step by step. Credit to Seed Garden Designs for an awesome design.

The Front Yard

In the front we installed a patio made or 2' x 2' architectural slabs (pavers) with space inbetween for future groundcover. We Installed a number of really cool trees here. A small forest of Quaking Aspens greets you along the driveway. A Hinoki false cypress will eventually dominate the foreground. And an eastern redbud will grow in behind it. A really visually appealing collection of bushy shrubs and small mounding shrubs fill out the center with stunning colors and year round interest. This is topped off with a collection of sedums and other ground covers in the foreground. The patio draws your eyes around the yard. We also installed a garden box with raspberries inside.

A new lighting fixture was installed. We also installed a bunch of plants against the bay window part of the house leading to the back yard.

The Backyard

We installed multiple beds with a ton of plants in each. They got new sod in the middle of the yard separated with high quality black metal edging. The metal edging is great for ease of mowing, and keeping the grass from creeping into your mulch beds. It also just looks sharp, and it pretty much lasts forever.

We continued the plant pallet from the front. Varied grasses with a scattering of Heuchera. Mixed with some evergreen things and blueberries makes this a diverse, well rounded plant selection that will look good all year.

The Back Corner

Let's not forget the back corner! It was a mess of weeds and ivy that had been neglected. We gave it a strong statement so that the eye won't pass over it any more! Three roses in a row behind the deck as a foundation with a continuation of plants from the rest of the design really bring this section out and fill in the space nicely. We planted some jasmine along the trellises to replace the invasive ivy. This will fill in nicely and provide some privacy. Thanks again guys for letting us do your awesome yard, it was an absolute pleasure working with you!
